Tal memorial, early games
I've had a look at some of the key moments from the recent Tal Memorial. Here are a selection of the decisive phases in the early rounds. At the end, Magnus Carlsen and Levon Aronian finished equal first, with Carlsen getting the nod for the title on tie-break. You can see in the notes below how all this could have been different as Aronian missed a win in their individual encounter!

Pitiless against the Pirc!
Sergey Karjakin continues his rise up the world rankings with another excellent result in the 5th King's tournament in Medias, Romania. He won both games against Vassily Ivanchuk, including the following one-sided crush of Ivanchuk's Pirc Defence.
