Another big surprise in Bursa!

India are playing without Anand, but nevertheless beat the (recently at least) all-conquering Azerbaijani team.
With the US losing to Russia all ten teams have already lost at least one match from their first three.

The third round results were as follows:

India 2.5-1.5 Azerbaijan

(Average ratings: IND 2641 AZE 2712) Sasikiran 1-0 Gashimov

Harikrishna 0.5-0.5 Radjabov

Ganguly 1-0 Guseinov

Geetha 0-1 Mamedyarov

Turkey 0.5-3.5 Armenia

Russia 3-1 USA

Israel 2.5-1.5 Brazil

Egypt 2.5-1.5 Greece

A great result for the Egyptians. Maybe the Greeks did too much celebrating last night?

A curiosity is that nine matches have ended 2.5-1.5, but as yet there are none that have been drawn 2-2.

Only one player has 3/3, Mamedyarov of Azerbaijan.

Standings after three rounds:

Obviously the leader board is close at the moment, with Armenia just getting their nose ahead of the pack largely due to their third round demolition of the hosts.
