Clichy win, Marseille draw

Maxime Vachier-Lagrave
Clichy won comfortably and are now well ahead after Marseille drew with Evry. Unusually, four matches were drawn. The struggle at the bottom is becoming clearer after Noyon earned a valuable victory over Strasbourg.

The situation before the ninth round was as follows:

On day nine, there were five closely-fought matches. These were in stark contrast with Clichy's resounding win over Mulhouse.

Marseille's point came on board one with in-form Arkadij Naiditsch beating French No.1 Maxime Vachier-Lagrave. Evry equalized on board eight.

So it's looking more-and-more as if Marseille will have to beat Clichy if they want to win the title!

At the bottom, the last three teams are becoming detached and if any of these teams is to avoid the drop they would have to win their remaining two matches.
