The Arab Championship in Tunis

Various events have been taking place in Tunis including the Arab Individual Championships. The most surprising fact was that red hot first seed Al-Modiakhi didn't win the event and had to settle for second place behind Egyptian El Ghindy.Videos

I have some happy memories of playing in Tunisia a few years ago and I assume the competitors in the Arab Championships received as warm a welcome as I did back then.

The tournament was weakened by the absence of some of the stronger players such as former Junior World Champion Ahmed Adly (2591) but it was another Egyptian who came out clearly on top a full point ahead.
