Who is going to win the World Cup?

Teimour Radjabov
Teimour Radjabov is the in form player, as my statistical exercise below demonstrates. Otherwise both Vassily Ivanchuk and David Navara also have better than 75% records so far. The last eight will start the quarter-finals tomorrow.

Here is a break-down of the eight players performances so far:

C= Classical chess

R= Rapidplay

B = Blitz

w= white pieces

b= black pieces

    C C C C C C R R R R R R B B B Total%

Vassily Ivanchuk (2=)

4 Ruslan Ponomariov (8) 1 3 0 0 4 0 2 2 1 2 2 1 1 1   60
5 Vugar Gashimov (4=) 4 0 0 1 2 1 2 0 0 1 0 1       75
6 Alexander Grischuk (7) 3 1 0 0 3 1 1 1 0 2 0 0       70.8
7 Teimour Radjabov (1) 4 0 0 1 3 0                   81.3
9 Peter Svidler (4=) 1 3 0 2 2 0 2 1 0 2 1 0       75
14 David Navara (2=) 3 1 0 2 2 0 2 0 0 1 0 1       79.2
33 Judit Polgar (4=) 2 1 1 3 1 0 2 0 0 2 1 1 1 1   75

If the total percentage is anything to go by, the player most in form is Teimour Radjabov, the only player who hasn't required tie-breaks to get to this stage.

Of the equal-seconds, Vassily Ivanchuk has been efficient at Rapidplay, but David Navara has been playing particularly well having been clearly better in all eight of his classical games.

On the other hand, Ruslan Ponomariov has required three play-offs!

Note that the Azerbaijani pair have 100% with White at Classical chess!

The only two unbeaten players are Radjabov and Peter Svidler.
